About 5th Grade

Welcome to 5th grade! This year, you’ll continue to improve your reading comprehension and fluency, working in your guided reading group. In writing, you’ll learn to master compound-complex sentences, use semicolons, and write evidence-based paragraphs and multi-paragraph pieces. In math, you'll dive deeper into decimals, fractions, measurement, and solving word problems. Science will broaden your knowledge of life, physical, and earth sciences. In social studies, you’ll explore the history of the United States from the Civil War to today, as well as learn about our government, citizens’ rights, and the Constitution. We are excited to see all that you will accomplish in your final year of elementary school as you prepare for middle school and beyond!
